It’s nice to have everything run to a yearly plan. The planning bit is easy to put on paper – catering for varying seasonal factors (dry times, locusts, floods and blow flies etc) makes putting the plan into action a lot more difficult!  Below is a general outline of our yearly activities.

Yearly Planner

January – maintenance

February – some crutching, mulesing

March – more crutching, ram joining, goat muster

April – ram joining, possibly small early shearing

May – maintenance, start general shearing

June – general shearing

July – trucking of sale sheep, goat muster, getting ready for Louth Races

August – getting ready for Louth Races, Louth Races Weekend, getting over the Louth Race Weekend!, maintenance, lambing

September – lambing, maintenance

October – last of lambing, goat muster

November – lamb marking

December – crutch young weaner sheep

‘R’ and ‘R’ is what we’re about,
Put your feet up – throw a line out.
But if the ways-of-the-west is what you seek
Go for a drive an’ take a peek.
